Junior Cost Controller

Job Description:
We are looking for a Junior Cost Controller to help monitor and control costs across all departments. The main goal of this role is to minimize waste and optimize production costs, ensuring that operations stay within budget and meet quality standards. The Junior Cost Controller will support both the finance and operations teams in tracking expenses, analyzing costs, and improving efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track daily expenses related to production, purchasing, logistics, and labor.
  • Monitor material usage to ensure adherence to product recipes and identify inefficiencies or waste.
  • Analyze cost data to compare actual expenses against budget and standard costs.
  • Ensure production processes follow standard recipes and ingredient usage.
  • Work with chefs to validate recipe costs and recommend cost-saving adjustments without compromising quality.
  • Monitor ingredient usage per batch and report any deviations from the recipe.
  • Track and report production waste.
  • Collaborate with operations and production teams to find the root causes of waste and implement strategies to reduce it.
  • Maintain a log to track waste trends and their cost impact.
  • Prepare and maintain cost reports, including detailed analysis of raw materials, recipe costs, and waste impact.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual cost analysis reports for management.
  • Help in preparing budgets for raw materials, production, and operational expenses.
  • Monitor adherence to approved budgets and report any variances.
  • Review supplier invoices and production records to ensure alignment with budgets and cost expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs in recipes, materials, and production processes.
  • Help evaluate alternative suppliers or production methods to reduce costs.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of recipe costs, production waste, and other cost-related data.
  • Provide detailed reports on costs and waste during audits and financial reviews.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in finance, cost control, or production monitoring (experience in food production is a plus).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (SAB & Oracle Hospitality experience is a plus).
    • Knowledge of recipe costing and waste reduction techniques.
  • Other Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
